June 8, 2016
A junior at Jeremiah Burke High School, he is gunned down steps from the school’s entrance after a fire alarm sends students into the street. At the school graduation two days later, Mayor Marty Walsh tells the students and their parents, “I’m sad that for many of you, this is not your first exposure to violence. I’m upset that no matter how much we bring down the shootings and the homicides in our city, the same community bears the brunt of the violence. There’s an injustice behind that, and we should all be upset with that.”
